We pride ourselves in applying the same standard of service to our clients regardless of their size and specialty. The Billing Company was founded upon the fundamental premise that Client Service is our first and foremost priority. It is what sets us apart from others in our profession; it’s what matters most to our clients; and it’s achieved by placing our client’s best interest at the center of all we do. Our commitment is to partner with you, the client, by DOING IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. We have established well-defined systems that facilitate the timely and accurate billing and collection of practice revenue. Further, by clearly understanding the needs of each individual client, we take the steps to ensure that systems are set up properly at the beginning of the relationship. OUR STORY The Billing Company, LLC, was founded by frustrated physicians, psychologists and physical therapists in private practice. First we tried outsourcing our billing and we quickly realized that we were losing far too much revenue. The outsource medical billing companies made too many mistakes in submitting our claims, they did not follow up consistently on denials and clearly went after ONLY the easy collections. To make matters worse, we could not get consistent and accurate billing reports to properly analyze and manage our practice. Nor could we get the information we needed on health insurance companies to effectively manage our insurance contracts. We then invested in a sophisticated electronic billing package and tried bringing our billing “in house.” We found that we became so dependent on one or two employees in our billing department, that things fell apart when they became ill, moved, decided to change careers, and so on. With in-house billing we were on a perpetual roller coaster ride. The business risk was too great because the practices were not large enough to support the critical mass of billing staff needed to cross cover when one of the billing staff became unavailable. At this point we decided that the only way to succeed was to find an out-sourced billing company that had well-defined systems and procedures in place to facilitate the timely and accurate billing and collection of practice revenue and who could provide our management team with detailed and cusomized financial reports. We wanted a company that considered client service and client’s individual needs as top priority. We wanted a company that applied the same standard of service regardless of the client’s size and specialty. Through extensive searching we found that such a company did not exist; so we decided to create a billing company over which we would have enough control to make sure that things were done right for the client the first time. We realized that such a company would be a valuable asset to any small to medium-sized practice. We were confident that once it became clear that this is a company created by health professionals, for health professionals, others would want to take advantage. We had already invested in the electronic billing package as part of our attempt to bring billing in-house. The only piece of the puzzle missing was a manager with extensive experience in billing in the electronic environment, and a strong work ethic. We found this in Brenda Daugherty. Her curriculum vitae speaks for itself. She liked the idea of partnering with health-care professionals to create a different kind of billing company and she is now the CEO and principal owner of The Billing Company. The founding practices have now relinquished day-to-day operations and overall management to Ms. Daugherty and her team …after all, we have our patients and practices to attend to. We and the other clients of the billing company have never been happier.
